In Rwanda, many births are not registered.
This leads to a multitude of challenges, from difficulties in prosecuting child abuse to owning property, and accessing education, employment and state welfare. Our partners ran a series of training for registration officials, including taking them into the field.
As a result of 10 days fieldwork, over 6000 children's births were registered!
It was so successful that now in that area, all registration officers spend one day a week in the field encouraging registration. Such a simple action and yet it has a significant long-term impact, for the child and the community. Our partners are daily answering the biblical call to seek justice and speak up for the voiceless.
