Rachael Dean, trainee solicitor (Manchester)

Despite studying law and the LPC, it was not until this year's Young Lawyer and Student Conference that I became an engaged LCF member.

Becoming a trainee solicitor took far longer and was more frustrating than I ever expected – careers advisers didn't warn me of that! However, I have never doubted law was part of God's design for my life. Now, as an active member of the LCF, I am so grateful for the support of like-minded, legally thinking Christians who also feel God has called them to be a lawyer at such a time as this.

The conference provided opportunities to socialise; get into God's word; and consider His ways for our lives and careers. I returned to my firm passionate and purposeful in my interactions with my colleagues and have been amazed at God at work there. As a Manchester-based young lawyer, I left the conference encouraged and inspired to create a similar community in the North West. At our recent fledgling LCF Young Lawyer and Student summer social, in partnership with Ministry to Business (M2B), we saw a brilliant turnout and sensed that it was the start of something great to come. I am truly excited to watch how God uses us as His lawyers in the UK, to seek justice, love mercy and walk humbly with Him in this season.
