As a Christian should I be suspicious or supportive of government?

Are laws and government a gift from God? Or do they usually represent a threat to human freedom?

Some Christians place great confidence in the role of government, believing that through good legislation society can be transformed. Others are more nervous, being concerned about the consequences of secular laws for freedom of religion and Christian values.

What then is God's view of government? What is its proper role and what are its limits? And what are the implications for us as lawyers engaged in the administration of justice?

In this short video, David McIlroy, experienced barrister and Head of Forum Chambers, explores with us the biblical mandate given to government and how it should affect the way we view our day-to-day work as lawyers.
