Christian lawyers and politics: An unholy mix?
Is politics something that Christians should get involved in? And can Christian lawyers make any difference?
Confidence in politicians currently seems to be at an all-time low with scandals such as parliamentary expenses damaging public faith in the system. At the same time, protest movements are on the rise around the world as voters look for answers outside the political mainstream.
How should Christians respond in the light of this contemporary situation? Should we join political parties and what (if any) are the issues we should campaign on? Do Christian lawyers have any particular skills that might be useful in the political arena?
In this short video, Alasdair Henderson, barrister at One Crown Office Row and parliamentary candidate in the 2015 General Election, explores with us what the Bible says about political involvement and practical ways we can serve Jesus in this sphere.
