Identity: How do I keep a Christ-centred identity in a competitive legal world?

The law is often viewed as a dog-eat-dog world, where competition is fierce, and compassion scarce. Competition for training contracts and pupillages; competition to qualify; competition to meet billing targets and push for promotion.

So, when you've received yet another rejection letter, or you've had a bad day in court, it can be easy to fall into the trap of doubting your self-worth. Equally, success carries the risk of pride and arrogance – and a drive to constantly seek more, to find another rush.

How then do we avoid both temptations? How can we be in the legal world, when we are exiles in the world? How do we remember that our identity is found in Christ, and not our CV?

In this video, Janys Scott KC (a family law advocate and part-time sheriff), explores what the bible says about competition and identity.
