Week beginning: 6th October, 2013

By Esther Harrison | Nottingham

"He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength." Isaiah 40:29
"He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"

Romans 8:32 (NKJV)

Over the last few months I have often felt under siege, as a lawyer and as a Christian. The pressure without may come from cuts to legal aid or a society hostile to many of the principles we hold dear as believers; from within, we battle with besetting sins or apathy in our Christian walk.

What an encouragement it is to dwell on these precious words of scripture. We serve the God of impossibilities. When we have no strength at all, He is able to increase it! He enables us day by day to serve him in our place of work or study, to witness for Him in all we say or do, to love and worship Him as He deserves.

How do we know this? Because He freely gave His Son to die in our place that we might be forgiven and made right with Him. If He has done this as He promised He would, "how shall he not with Him also freely give us all things?".

Prayer points:

1. Whatever your circumstances, give time to dwell on God's provision for you this week.
2. Pray for the Belfast Regional Conference and those attending.
