Week beginning: 15th November, 2015

"Listen to me... you whom I have upheld since you were conceived, and have carried since your birth. Even to your old age and grey hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you."

Isaiah 46:3-4 (NIV, 1994 edition)

An incredible burden lifted

In the face of judgment from God – invasion by Persia – Bel and Nebo, the gods of the Babylonians, do not just fail to save the people but they are heavy burdens that they must carry as they flee (v1-2).

Often, we think that we work to please God and that we carry Him to places that He needs to go. That can become an incredible burden, driving us away from rest and twisting our perception of work. It is a lie. The truth is that we are the Beloved. Even before our work begins, and regardless of how well it goes, our loving Father carries us. We do not carry or sustain God – although truthfully, I often act like I do.

What great peace there is, therefore, at the start of another busy week, in remembering that God carries us – from the womb, until old age. He, who never fails, will carry, rescue and sustain each of us, wherever we are.

Prayer points:

1.Take your work and the week ahead to the Lord in prayer, and give him thanks that he will carry you through it and know his peace in this.

2. Give thanks for the all the opportunities LCF members have had to gather together over this last year and ask the Lord to remind us of the things he has taught us through this and to remember each other as we witness for him this week.
Pray for Claire and her work with IJM and give thanks for the good relationship that CLEAR has with the local branches in East Africa.
