"Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end."

Proverbs 29:11 (NIV)

As lawyers we will have experienced seeing people give vent to rage. Fear, disappointment and anger can all cause it. No doubt we feel it sometimes ourselves. But anger prevents clear thinking and can lead to bad decisions.

It is one of our tasks as lawyers to enable our clients to think clearly and calmly so that they reach decisions which are good for them. This will often be difficult because the decision they need to make will often be contrary to their inclination.

Keeping our cool when discussion gets heated is essential. This is not something we do naturally, it is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and we must pray that we receive it.

Pray:

  1. For grace when dealing with rage in others.
  2. For grace in dealing with your own anger.
  3. For wisdom to enable good decisions to be reached.
  4. For guidance by the Holy Spirit when dealing with angry or difficult clients.
