Get off the phone, and from behind your desk and look outside...

Week beginning: 18th September, 2016 | By David McIlroy | London

"He says, 'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'"

Psalm 46:10 (NIVUK)

As busy lawyers, we find it difficult to be still and hard to remember who is God. It is all too easy for us to think that we are God, on a mission to save our clients or capable of controlling everything. Or we can treat our clients or our bosses as God, crossing the line from serving them well to letting them impose unreasonable demands on us.

Take some time this week to be still, to get away from your desk and to put away your smartphone, and to go outside. Look at the beauty of creation as summer gives way to autumn and remember: remember that we serve the Lord God, who loves us, and who is glorious.

Prayer Points:

1. Give thanks that the Lord of hosts, the creator, is with you and that you serve Him in all His glorious splendor.

2. Pray for your fellow LCF members who today are stressed and worried, and ask that they may know the peace and presence of God.
