An exceedingly abundantly powerful God

Week beginning: 4th September, 2016 | By Esther Harrison | Nottingham

"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV)

Lawyer Paul covers all possibilities when he extols the omnipotence of God's ability to act on our behalf. Nothing is impossible with God. Our imaginations are too small to comprehend His measureless greatness and power. Yet often we feel afraid, powerless, useless and doubtful.

As we face this week, we need to remind ourselves of all that God is and all that He has done. Starting with us! If we are Christians, His power has worked in us to bring us from death to life; from slavery to freedom; from unbelief to faith; from sin to righteousness. We have nothing to boast about. Ultimately, His work in us will last forever and bring Him eternal glory.

Over the last few days, these words have been both a song of praise and a challenge for me. Whatever the joys and pressures of legal practice today, bring Him glory through your faith in His power – not yours.

Prayer Points:

1. Give praise to God in your heart this morning for all that He has done, is doing and will do in your life, because of His great love for you.
2. Offer to God any fears and doubts that you have as you start this week and trust in His word and His promises, knowing that His power is at work in you for His Glory and purpose.
