Take courage!

Week beginning: 25th March, 2018 | By Mark Mullins | London

"Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body."

John 2:19-21 (KJV)

This is the crowning proof of the Lord Jesus's divinity, for it was God who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead (Colossians 2:19). The Lord Jesus was claiming that, as God, He would raise up his own body from the grave after his death on the cross. The Father and the Holy Spirit raised Christ from the dead (Galatians 1:1 and Romans 8:11). There is nothing that one person of the Trinity does which does not involve the others since all are One and yet distinct persons.

By rejecting Christ's claim of divinity and crucifying him instead, the Jews proved the truth of it. They also unwittingly offered the only acceptable sacrifice for sin to which their Temple sacrifices pointed.

Ironically it was the Jews who lost their temple. God not only raised up the temple the Jews had destroyed but built many more in the hearts of every believer (1 Corinthians 6:19).

Does it seem as though evil triumphs in your work as a lawyer? If God can turn even the execution of his beloved Son to His and our advantage, nothing is too difficult for Him. Let us take courage!

Prayer Points:

1. Praise God for the hope we have in the resurrection of our divine Lord.

2. Pray that this Easter we would take every opportunity to point others to that sure and certain hope of eternal life in Christ.
