Are you a happy lawyer?

Week beginning: 22nd July, 2018 | By Gavin Callaghan | Perth

You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 16:11 (ESV)

So often I think one of the significant weaknesses in my Christian life is that I don't often enough stop and intentionally gaze upon the beauty of Christ. And I don't grasp the wonder of that promise that through my union with Christ, I will be in God's presence forever - and that is a place of joy.

That should impact on how I work, how I interact with colleagues and opponents. It should put my aspirations and disappointments into perspective.

The mission of the LCF is to bring the whole Good News of Jesus Christ within the legal world. As LCF members, we are ultimately seeking to direct people in the legal profession to Christ – and thus to pleasure, and to joy. It is an astounding truth that we are proclaiming - whether that is in the context of evangelism, or discipleship - we are pointing lawyers to Christ, and equipping them to be overjoyed.

Many lawyers I meet seem thoroughly miserable. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we, as Christian lawyers, were known as being overjoyed!

Prayer Points:

1. Pray that we would spend time in God's presence, and that we would become ever more joyful.

2. Pray for opportunities to show that joy to others – and tell them why we are overjoyed!
