The Ultimate Peacemaker

Week beginning: 25th November, 2018 | By Mark Mullins | London

He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

Psalm 46:9 (KJV)

This verse reminds us that it is God who brings wars to an end. That is why Parliament attended a service of thanksgiving on the day of the Armistice in 1918.

But how did such a terrible war begin in the first place? James 4:1 gives us the answer: From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

The First World War started in the hearts of the rulers of the great nations of the world just as every war does.

The principle that governs wars applies equally to litigation which is of course war on a different front.

The same God who stops war also brings an end to litigation. I hope we all pray for our cases remembering that, for those cases that end up before a judge/jury, the heart of the king is in the Lord's hand (Proverbs 21:1).

Litigation, like wars, will be with us until the human heart is changed in this life by the New Birth, and finally at the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer Points:

1. Pray for your caseload this week, that God's will would be done and peace would be accomplished.
2. Pray for opportunities to tell our clients and colleagues the Gospel, so that they would come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
3. Pray that we would all be living our lives in readiness for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
