A world of opportunity

Week beginning: 31st March, 2019 | By John Head | Brighton

Go and preach the good news to everyone in the world.

Mark 16:15 (CEV)

As Jesus addressed his disciples with these words, I wonder what expectation he had that they would respond and act accordingly.

Do you see your office, chambers or other place of work – or if you are a student your student common room – as "the world" where God has put you?

If so, have you tried fulfilling Jesus' command?

"How do I do it?" you may ask.

"You have the opportunity of a lifetime in the lifetime of the opportunity" was a favourite expression of Neville Knox, a former Chairman of the LCF.

We need to be alert and open to God's prompting otherwise we may miss that opportunity to "preach the good news".

Prayer points:

1. Pray that we see our workplace as our mission field.
2. Pray for opportunities to speak to our colleagues.
3. Pray that we would always be ready to give an answer when someone asks about our hope.
4. Pray that God would bring our colleagues from darkness to light, from death to life.
