Tempted to give up?

Week beginning: 10th March, 2019 | By Adam McRae-Taylor | London

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Galatians 6: 9-10 (NIV)

There is much in the life of the lawyer that can cause weariness: short deadlines, demanding clients and stretching billing targets. Throw in other common pressures such as busy family lives and church responsibilities, and we can often feel overwhelmed.

Paul encourages us in these verses not to "give up" when we are feeling weary. Amidst the busyness are so many chances to do real tangible good: to solve a client's problem, love our friends and families, and encourage brothers and sisters in our faith.

So where do we find the inner resources of strength to fight the weariness? Paul encourages us that if we keep going "we will reap a harvest". The good we do can – and will – make a difference for eternity.

Prayer Points:

1. Pray that God would refresh our souls so that we do not give up serving Him.
2. Pray that He would give us a renewed vision of the good we can do for others in all areas of our lives.
