How can a loving God allow a beautiful child to suffer?

Recently I bumped into another LCF member at Court who I had not seen for some time. We arranged to meet when we were both finished with our cases. As we sat chatting about Christian things we were approached by another lawyer who suddenly asked us why a loving God would allow a beautiful child to suffer. We don't think he had heard our conversation.
There then developed a fruitful conversation about the Gospel, how no one is innocent, that we are all born with the same fallen nature as our first Father, Adam, even a beautiful child; that we needed another, perfect, Adam to redeem us which God provided by sending us his only Son to be a perfect sacrifice for our sins; that the resurrection is true and, implied but not said, the hope of a future without suffering is also true and that if all turned to Christ the world would be a very different place. It seemed to make him think.
This encounter reminded me of the importance of meeting up with fellow Christian lawyers to encourage each other in the faith and to be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:15). This week let us all pray that we might be granted the opportunity to encourage another Christian and to share the Gospel with a soul who is seeking.
1. Ask God for the opportunity to share the good news of the Gospel with someone who is seeking answers to the most important questions about life.
Give thanks for your fellow Christian lawyers and ask whom you might encourage this week in their walk with Christ.
