…now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.'2 Corinthians 6:2 (NKJV)
Don't we feel stupid or guilty when we have been too late to meet an important deadline, or when we arrived at an important meeting too late?
The Bible says the best time to turn to Christ for forgiveness is always 'now'. The offer of Christ is open now to save those who turn from wrong and trust in Him. Indeed, 'now is the day of salvation'. Only Jesus saves those trusting Him from the penalty, the power and, one day, the presence of sin. His saving work on the cross means He bore our wrongdoings and their punishment in our place. The penalty has been paid for all who turn and trust Him. The saving life of the risen Christ becomes ours as He indwells us by the Holy Spirit. Eternal life is promised to all who come to Him as Saviour and Lord. But it will be 'too late', either when Christ returns, or when we die, if earlier.
What an urgent reminder to pray for others to trust Him, and to share the wonders of our Saviour with them. As a former criminal lawyer, the need of many I dealt with was obvious. But all people are dying sinners, including lawyers and clients, and the offer is open to all. 'Now is the accepted time.'
1. Praise God that He sent His son to bear our wrongdoings and take our punishment.
2. Pray that we would not delay in sharing the wonders of our Saviour with those around us.
