"Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever".

1 Corinthians 9:25 (NIV)

What is your future aspiration?

In our work as lawyers, it is so easy to be driven by ambition. We see everyone chasing after the job as partner and aim to do just the same. But this verse tells us that amazingly, if we're following Jesus, we will receive something that will last forever and truly satisfy us, an everlasting crown!

In following Jesus, we can trust in an eternal inheritance for us in heaven, as we rule as co heirs with Christ. But we cannot take that for granted - Paul urges us to be strict with ourselves and guard our own walk with Jesus. So beware if your focus is unwittingly becoming the next promotion or pay rise and keep trusting in the future inheritance we will have in Jesus, and live in a way that honours him.

Furthermore, we have the incredible chance to tell our colleagues about this hope that we have, that they might share in this everlasting crown for themselves.

Prayer Points:

1. Pray for members of the LCF that we might have a right perspective on our work and careers, and to remember the everlasting crown that awaits us.

2. Pray for opportunities to speak of this hope of a future inheritance, that we may seek to live distinctively.
